Comedians | Gary Robertson
For most of my life I have viewed poetry as utter crap, something to be avoided at all costs.
Coming from a background as I have in the housing schemes of Dundee the mere mention of the word has people firing off a round of expletives.
This changed dramatically though in 2001 when I won the BBC 2 reality TV series 'SAS Are You Tough Enough?'
I discovered I had a great love for writing, poetry in particular, but this poetry I call Dundonian Street Poetry - undiluted, raw and in your face, celebrating the language, culture and humour of the streets where I come from.
I have since had my first collection 'Pure Dundee' published by Luath Press along with 'Gangs of Dundee', a fascinating social history of the city's youth gangs.
